Accelerated Interface Module

Fortinet accelerated interface modules increase the flexibility of FortiGate® and FortiCarrier™ platforms with 10-Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interface Options. They also provide additional security performance for the platforms, adding wire-speed firewall and near wire-speed IPSec VPN security for traffic traversing the module's ports.

The embedded FortiASIC™ Network Processors (NP) is what makes the modules' increases in performance possible. By performing firewall and IPSec VPN security functions at the interface level, modules relieve processing overhead from the host system, freeing resources for other functions.

Bypass Modules

IT administrators are faced with the challenge of securing a network while also ensuring that the network is always available. For critical network segments, this could mean that network availability is valued over ensuring that all traffic is inspected for malicious activity. High availability solutions, where a system fails over to either an active or standby unit, can reduce the risk of a network outage while still providing security services. To further reduce the risk of a network outage due to a power failure or a security device malfunction, bypassing the device altogether with a fail-to-wire solution can ensure network continuity at times when security cannot be provided.

Rear Transition Modules

Fortinet rear transition modules RTM-XD2 and RTM-XB2 provide 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) backplane fabric connectivity to FortiGate and FortiCarrier chassis-based systems. They include FortiASIC™ Network Processors for secure and low-latency communications.

Security Processing Modules

Fortinet ADM-XE2, ADM-FE8, and ASM-CE4 security processing modules provide multi-gigabit throughput increases for intrusion prevention, firewall, and IP multicast applications. All models are based on the carrier-class Advanced Mezzanine Card™ (AMC) specification used in many FortiGate multi-threat security platforms. The ADM-XE2 is a double-width AMC module for 10-Gigabit Ethernet networks. The ADM-FE8 is a SFP-based double-width AMC module for Gigabit Ethernet networks. The ASM-CE4 is a single-width AMC module for 10/100/1000 Ethernet networks. Fortinet security processing modules work to increase overall system performance by offloading select security and network processing functions from the FortiGate host system while maintaining all the benefits of a unified security platform.

Storage Modules

Fortinet storage modules extend the capabilities of FortiGate multithreat security systems by adding local storage for security and system event logging. The modules can also enable the WAN optimization function in FortiOS software (v4.0 or later), which accelerate applications commonly affected by slower wide-area network connections.

FMC Modules

Fortinet Mezzanine Card (FMC) modules increase the flexibility of your FortiGate® or FortiCarrier™ system with 10-Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit (GbE) Ethernet interface options. They also accellerate your appliance's security functions, delivering wire-speed firewall, and near wire-speed IPsec VPN throughput.
